It's been hot in Marblehead.

Tuesday, July 30

• At 1:16 p.m., Central Fire announced it was conducting its annual fire drill.
• At 1:44 p.m., a passerby reported people swimming at Grace Oliver's where a no swimming sign is posted.
• At 3:57 p.m., a Sagamore Road caller asked for a well being check on a relative she has not seen for three weeks. The relative, it turned out, was in Middleton Jail. Well, at least he was safe and sound. No worries there, then!
• At 4:01 p.m., a Washington Street store owner reported that a man was stealing alcohol.
• At 6:04 p.m., a Hawkes Street caller reported feeling threatened by her landlord, who is friends with a person she has restraining order filed against.
• At 8:41 p.m., a child was injured in a skateboard fall at Skinners Patch and was transported to the hospital.

Wednesday, July 31

• At 9:10 a.m., a person walked in to the police station and reported that a person had shot out windows at the Lower Bell School with a BB gun.
• At 10:18 a.m., an Oak Street caller reported seeing seeing scam pavers in town.I wonder if it's the Williamsons, still up to their old tricks.
• At 12:36 p.m., an Atlantic Avenue caller reported finding what she believed to be a human brain on the beach. It turned out what she found appears to be bait from a lobster trap. OK, I think this is possibly the best item EVAH in the Marblehead Police Log. Igor is still searching for the brain he dropped on the way to the lab.

Saturday, Aug. 3

• At 10:04 a.m., police received a report that POD was blocking a driveway on Knights Hill Road. So what's a POD when it's at home?
• At 10:33 a.m., a car hit an unoccupied carriage at Green and Elm Streets.
• At 1:14 p.m., a caller reported that a dinghy washed ashore at Naugus Avenue.
• At 5:11 p.m., police received a report from Swampscott about an armed robbery at Olympia Sports at 450 Paradise Road.

Sunday, Aug. 4

• At 1:07 a.m., police received a report of a large group of loud kids on Smith Street.
• At 12:16 p.m., police received a report that shorts were shoplifted from a Washington Street store. Well, it IS summertime.
• At 1:20 p.m., police received a report of a breaking and entering on Jefferson Street. A laptop was stolen.
• At 5:03 p.m., a walk-in dropped off a debit card found on Washington Street. The bank center asked that the card be destroyed.
• At 5:57 p.m., a tree was reportedly down in the roadway at Maple Street. The tree department was called to the scene.
• At 9:49 p.m., a caller reported seeing a man walking on Tedesco who was beating and kicking his dog. The caller said the man continued to do the same to the dog on Mystic Road before entering a house. I hope they find him and throw the book at him. Marbleheaders love their dogs and cats.
• At 10:10 p.m., an Auburndale Road caller said there was a knock on the door and, upon answering it, no one was there but someone had left a tray of food. I'll have the Beef Wellington, with a side of carrots and peas, and a Baked Alaska for dessert. Please drop it off at the front door. Thank you kindly, and I'd appreciate seeing next week's menu.
