I gather that, although this man is not a danger to vulnerable people, they're still putting him on the sex offenders register in Michigan. Perhaps they'll have to alert all sheep within 2 miles of his home. Read all about it here.

*sigh* While I'm glad to see animal cruelty stopped, people keep animals in cruel conditions, kill them and eat them every day and they don't get 2 1/2 years to 20 years in prison. Why should sexual abuse be seen as worse for animals than other abuse?

In case you haven't heard about it, the incident last summer in Enumclaw, Washington (involving a man being done to death by a stallion) has some relevance here as it has been the impetus to get Washington to outlaw bestiality.

It was pointed out in the local media that despite Washington not having such a law, most cases could be prosecuted under the existing animal cruelty laws (assuming a smaller animal, who could easily have been injured by being the passive partner, was involved). This case was highly unusual in that the animal was the active partner -- of course, he had to have a little help and encouragement from another human. I think this would have been the guy who made the videotape which was posted to the Internet.

As it happened, neither of the men involved (the deceased nor the guy with the camera) actually *owned* the farm where the incident took place, so the guy with the camera was successfully prosecuted for trespassing.
