On January 2, in this post, I mentioned that soon the Easter eggs would be on the shelves.

Well, yesterday, coming home from the gym, I stopped off in Tesco's on Kennington Lane for some stuff for dinner. What did I see?

You guessed it. Chocolate bunnies, ready for Easter.

Fooey!

Can't they at least wait till Lent?!

I guess not, given the need to drive sales daily. One would think that a chocolate bunny sold now would be pretty unpalatable by the time Easter rolls around. Perhaps they do something else with them.

Hey, do you get pectin eggs there? We used to get pectin eggs, but they haven't had them the last few years. Man, I just love those. Every year, I load up on them for the whole year.

Oh, you were mad about the candy being hawked early? Never mind.

I haven't a clue what a "pectin egg" might be. I know what pectin is (I think), and I know what eggs are, but that hasn't helped very much.

They're the best jelly beans ever, in that they're filled with actual pectin jelly instead of that gunk that rips out your fillings. But now that jelly bellys dominate the high end jelly bean market, I can't find "pectin jelly eggs" any more. ):

But you were talking about other aspects of Easter candy marketing. I have my own issues.

Oh, OK. I'd only eat jellybeans if I were seriously low in blood sugar at any one time and needed a quick sugar hit. I never really liked them very much. But I do remember what pectin eggs are. Thanks for the elucidation.
