It's very rare that tourists attempt to travel to North Korea. When they do get there, most find it rather sterile and uninviting. But, it really depends on how you got there. This tale of two rail enthusiasts who blogged as they traveled across Russia and then, with the proper visas and permissions, continued on to Pyongyang, is really riveting, even if you're not a rail enthusiast.
