I have been loading the contents of my CD library into iTunes, semi-successfully. Still many discs left to go.

The one that has come up just now for importing is "Florence Foster Jenkins: The Glory (????) of the Human Voice". Those of you who do not know who Jenkins was, the Wikipedia article on Jenkins should give some background.

But one song only, for curiosity's sake.

This is the sort of poll that screams for checkboxes instead of radio buttons, or at least an "All of the above" option!

I lipsynched in the variety show at dance camp to her Queen of the Night. It's on my iPod of course.

We saw Souvenir a couple of years ago in NYC, a delightful play about her career.

i've heard many Queens of the Night from Kiri te Kanawa to Beverley Sills, but FFJ owns that aria.

It's fun to tease people who haven't heard of her - you gush about how you've just discovered this wonderful singer from 70yr ago, you've got the CD, you have to listen - apologising the while for poor quality, coz it's transcribed from a 78.

then you play it for them, keeping a straight face, and watch THEM try to keep a straight face, since they think you think this caterwauling is good music.
