I'm getting used to Vista, and have now come across another difficult problem. I use Eudora for email, but when (in Vista) I click on a "mailto" command, it tries to configure Outlook.

I am going to try to uninstall Outlook, but after that I am hoping that Vista will relent and let me "mailto" through Eudora.

Anyone else solved this problem? Am I barking up the right tree?

In your browser options you should be able to specify default mail client. May have to do it in IE even if your default browser is another. Or have you done that and are still having problems?

I have now discovered the mechanism by which Vista designates a program in the registry as the program that responds to mailto. I have tricked it into thinking that Eudora is agent. The next step is to copy the registry entry to Eudora with suitable changes and see whether that will work.

Vista has decided in its wisdom that Eudora is not a fit email program, so it doesn't list it as one. I will look and see whether Firefox allows me to specify a default email client...
