Foot update

It struck me that I haven't updated on my foot situation very much lately, so here it is, along with picture (non gory but graphic).

The last two Mondays I've gone into the Foot Clinic so that the orthopods can take a look at it and tell me how lucky I am that they didn't amputate my little toe. However, two Mondays ago the podiatrist in charge of the orthopedic patients didn't realise that I was one, so she took me off the list. Thus, I waited for 4 hours to be seen by the podiatrist, and another 2 hours to get my IV antibiotic. I was livid.

Monday of this week I was on the list, was seen by the orthopods, they pronounced healing going well, but I was still there for 5 hours waiting for the IV.

This has made me very annoyed, but luckily I don't have to go back for another 3 weeks. At that point, the gold wire coming out of my little toe will be removed and my foot will be put into a cast. Oh joy.

I gathered enough courage to look at the wound yesterday. It wasn't quite as gory as I thought it would be. There is a little fluid discharge, but the wound itself is clean and dry, and filling in nicely. It's very red, which means that the blood is getting to the surface to make more cells.

I have had to cancel my US trip in December, as the quacks say that I won't be fit to travel. Crumbs, I say.

Now here, behind a cut, is the picture of my toes. Note the gold wire coming out of the top of my little toe. It's there to stiffen it since there is no bony connection between my toe and my foot.

Sorry we'll miss you this month.

It's always a good sign when the frequency of return visits decreases.

Hey, I've had to postpone my trip to the east coast as well... maybe we can coordinate in the spring, eh?

Well, I'm thinking around the third week of March at the moment, so just into spring. I want to attend my Marblehead Masonic Lodge while I'm still a Ruling Master of Goliath, as they make a Big Thing out of it and I'd like to be made into a Big Thing at least once in my life. (Vanity of vanities, all is vanity...) I will probably do two to three weeks there (assuming my feet cooperate). There is Skippy Super Chunk and Irish Spring soap to import into Blighty, after all. Oh, and Snow's Minced Clams, sugar-free drinks, and maybe a bottle of rye. And Altoids Spearmint. Definitely Altoids.

I just bought a pack of Altoid Cinnamon Smalls. Good idea, the smalls, I think. This is a test.

We still might intersect, let's keep in touch! I would like some April showers, though they tend to be more in May. (I have a lot of credit with Virgin, but it expires in June...)

Although Altoids are made in the UK, the only flavour available here is Peppermint. All the others are made here and exported to America. I don't like the cinnamon flavour, but spearmint is yummy, and the chocolate-covered ones are quite moreish.

Will they let you keep the gold wire? Every little bit helps in these parlous times.

I have had to cancel my US trip in December

Bummer. Sorry we won't get to see you.

I hope your healing proceeds happily and speedily.

I very much doubt it. In fact, I thought of asking to see the bone fragments they removed, but I suspect they've already been incinerated.

I am thinking March now. I really want to go to Philanthropic Lodge in Marblehead while I'm still a ruling master at Goliath, and I install my successor in May.

Hoping your foot heals at *ULTRA-SPEED*!

Sorry your US trip was canceled; but for now, you have to give yourself time to get better.

Thanks for the kind words. The only thing that vexes me a bit is that when I enquired whether the operation they were scheduling (this would be in September) would interfere with my US trip, the quack said it wouldn't.
