Another few seconds out of my 15 minutes of fame

Brian, who is on an around-the-world trip, breezed into London a while back. I got wind of his blog through the LinkedIn Ivy League group, and was intrigued because he was about to go to Angkor Wat, which I had just been to. I started reading his interesting blog, and when he arrived here, I said, "Let's do lunch!"

We met up at Piccadilly Circus to go to Eathai, which I had just been to courtesy of Dr. David, but could certainly stand another visit. I had the same thing I had last time (green chicken curry and vegetarian spring rolls) and we chatted about living in London and various side trips that are worth taking. We continued at Starbucks, where pictures were taken. I do look remarkably thinner than I am in this picture, so I am eternally grateful.



Brian's blog is interesting, check it out! There is another version of the above picture there, taken with his camera. Gratefully, I noted that I still look relatively thin with that camera too.

I've had green chicken curry exactly once, but it was LIKE HEAVEN....

I can't find any place in or around D.C. which offers it!! :( Finding good curry anywhere in this area is tough. I could traipse leagues and leagues out to Springfield, where there are something like 10 South and Southeast Asian restaurants within two blocks (it's very well-known for being the Asian cooking capital of the Mid-Atlantic region). But it's a heck of a long way out there...

But green curry? I've called around, and can't find it at all. One placed used to offer it, but Americans have this aversion to curry....they think it's a diuretic or something.

My Chinese take-out place used to have a superb chicken curry with onions and rice. Oh! the birds wept when offering up meat for that dish! But then they stopped offering it. Dang...

This one has green and red curry on the menu. (http://www.salathaidc.com/menu/dupont.html)

Only Thai restaurants have red and green curries on the menu. Indian restaurants would not have such a thing as "curry" in this case is a Thai thang, not an Indian thang.
