He's been denied the right to withdraw his guilty plea, but he says that nonetheless he'll stay around until the end of his term, when he'll retire from the Senate.

Oh, goodie! He'll be around to torment the Republicans for months to come through the 2008 general election. O frabjous day! Calloo, callay! he chortled in his joy. No vorpal blade is needed.

so - does this mean that, in order to demonstrate to The People of Idaho that He's Not Gay, Nosiree, Not Him(TM), he's NOT quitting, as he said he would?

He's not going to give the GOP governor of Idaho the opportunity to appoint a new (republican) senator, who could then in 13mo time run as an incumbent?

He's going to be around, fuel for talk-show hosts to make jokes about Senator McWidestance, until the election?

He's not resigning (because that way, the Terrorists False Accusers Would Win)?

He's sticking around, so the voters of Idaho, when they go to the polls in November 08 will have his homo principled self around to remind them of what a toad he is, and how they really should vote for the Democratic party candidate?
