When I was a kid, the library was where you went to borrow books and look up things in big reference books. Nowadays, people use it for many different things.

The library system at The Ohio State University (while I was attending there, the "The" was always emphasized in all the paperwork) got a reputation for all sorts of goings-on, including one sorry fellow who got caught masturbating on a woman in the stacks of one of the branch libraries -- she was busy studying and didn't notice his presence until he'd spooged all over her skirt. He was promptly arrested.
