We have a very complicated platform bed. It's UK-king size (US queen size), and has drawers below, an attached side table on each side, and a headboard. Black laminated plywood, but could be quite sturdy.

The difficulty has been that every time I move it has to be dismantled. And dismantling it has made it weak. So the headboard, which "rests" on the platform boards, slipped off those boards and thudded to the floor a while back. We supported it with books piled up underneath while we tried to figure out how to get it right again. And we had to take the side tables off to get the books underneath the headboard.

I bought some angle braces (there were two on each side; I wanted three), and some screws to replace some that had disappeared over the years. But it has been difficult to find the time when we are both in the mood to fix it. I first looked for all the necessary tools, screws, and angle braces. It took 1/2 hour to find the angle braces, and we had nearly abandoned the project when I found them.

HWMBO took the sheets and pillowcases off to launder them, and we then took the mattress off. Two additional angle braces later, we were ready to put the side tables on. Once that was done, the drawers in the side tables went in and the mattress went back. The bed is now sturdy and we hope it's sturdy enough not to be dangerous. The books under the headboard are gone.

I am absolutely knackered. I sweat like a pig when I do things like this, and the air cast means that I am constrained in certain things (can't kneel down very well, nor get up after I've knelt down, for example). But, I am hopeful that the bed is back in shape.

As for Facebook-Free-Time, I'm very happy with it so far. I've gotten more done, and have relieved myself of two spindles of CD-R/CD-RW blank disks that I no longer have a use for. I do need another USB-hub, as this one seems to have given up the partial ghost (one socket is dead). But order is slowly coming out of chaos. I am minded to extend it through the end of February, and next Sunday rename it Facebook-Free-February. But no longer than that. If I haven't gotten something done by the end of February it can wait.
