• It's really nice to bake corn muffins on a Sunday afternoon when the sky's threatening.


• It's even nicer to get unhooked from your IV by the District Nurse and then go to the kitchen, find that the muffins are done, and give her one hot from the oven before she speeds off to her next patient.


• The Shard is now visible from my back garden, as well as from most of South London, and looking at it makes me feel like London is stabbing the sky.


• I miss Beautiful Music radio almost as much as I miss smooth jazz on KKSF or WNUA. This probably labels me as a hopeless dork of some sort.


• I should have been on my way to Boston this afternoon on a plane. Due to the foot difficulties, I'm not. Faugh.


• There is a huge black cat on the garden fence.

What you need is an internet radio; got one last year and can't praise it highly enough, a terrific acquisition. They're becoming cheaper all the time and you should have no problems hearing your favourite American stations. Whether they will muck about with their formats or not is another matter...

We had a lovely classical music station here for many years - WFLN.

It's been gone a long time now.

Oh, I have an internet radio, and I also listen on my computers when necessary.

Unfortunately, many stations in the US restrict their signal to US IP addresses. As I have a VPN that has a US IP address, I can listen on my computer. However, I have yet to find a way to get the internet radio to log in through the VPN. So I'm a bit limited at the moment.

The radio stations blame the lawyers. I suppose that's as good an excuse as any...

The squirrels know when the cat or a fox is around, and stay in the trees or on the fence and scream at it. Makes HSMBO sad because he has no squirrels to feed at home. He has to make do with the squirrels in Regent's Park.
