That selection of pix includes a view of ?Brunel?'s tunnel under the Thames, the earliest one built 1843 - they don't say, but I'm assuming it's the Wapping to Rotherhithe one. The site says it's open to the public for a week before being renovated. I would definitely go if I wuz in town. are you going to go exploring under the Thames?

Well, seeing as I'm still hobbling around with my boot on my left foot, hobbling through Brunel's tunnel is probably not a good idea. OTOH, when the trains start running through it again this summer I will be one of the first to go through it on a train, seated, in comfort.

The SE1 twitter feed directed me to this event a few weeks ago but they (mistakenly) claimed that the tunnel was going to shut for good, rather than just shut to pedestrians.
