There is a group on Live Journal called vintage_ads; it often reproduces ads from a bygone age. Well, this ad from a very bygone age caught my eye today. Men of a certain age, those of us who are still around, that is, might observe a minute's silence...

there's a club bath here in Toronto, though no longer part of that chain I b'leeve. Club Toronto is easily the oldest tubs in town - it was one of four raided in Operation Soap back in 1981 - the police goons bashing the fags, hundreds of charges of people as "found ins" (as in, found in a Common Bawdy House = whorehouse); the protests after that galvanised the Toronto gay community. Of the four baths raided, two never re-opened (too badly damaged), The Barracks closed a couple of years back, but Club Toronto is still with us.

I don't know if you meant this, but the pointer to the Vintage Ads group took me to this ad which is a delightful ObMotss. Budweiser and Ganymede! Who knew? "Drink our beer and bugger naked young twinks!"
