It's been a hot time in the Old Town this week.

25 July Police Log, Marblehead, Mass. (excerpts)

1:45 a.m. Caller noticed a suspicious group of four or five children walking through the park in the Stramski Way area. Officers talked to the children and notified their parents of their whereabouts.

8:14 a.m. Caller reported a fish head had been left on her doorstep, perhaps by an ex-boyfriend. Officer advised caller.

8:20 a.m. Caller reported driver honking and passing the no-passing zone on Atlantic and Ocean avenues.

10:39 a.m. Caller reported unwanted person might be in house on Maple Street after receiving report from her dog walker. Officers determined that homeowner’s daughter might have given man permission to get a sweatshirt from the house. Two men in house were given a verbal no-trespass order, which log indicates they acknowledged.

3:37 p.m. Minivan reported coming into town on Lafayette Street from Salem with no taillights. Vehicle could not be located.

9:19 p.m. Caller reported a man in a vehicle poured what looked like alcohol into a cup on Smith Street. Vehicle could not be located.

10:36 p.m. Caller reported seeing two suspicious men — one older, one younger — hanging around the Laundromat on Pleasant Street and having a conversation that made her feel “uneasy.” Officers could not find the men.

11:51 p.m. Caller reported that a woman with a fat lip had come into the 24-hour CVS to report that she had been beaten up on the tracks either in Salem or Marblehead and that her cell phone had been taken. Woman was transported to the area of the tower to attempt to locate phone, but attempt was unsuccessful. Officers determined that no criminal activity had taken place, that woman had collided with bicyclist and dropped phone. Woman was given ride home.

And on July 24:

12:59 a.m. Checked park on Front Street. Park was found to be clear.

11:21 a.m. Caller in the Rose Avenue area reported that a car was racing down the road and the occupants had thrown a plastic “Go Slow” plastic man out of the vehicle.

2:41 p.m. Caller on West Shore Drive and Calumet Lane reported that while he was stopped at a crosswalk, a car passed him and nearly struck the pedestrians. Caller provided the police with the driver’s plate number.

2:52 p.m. Caller in the Baldwin Road area reported ongoing issues with friend after interceding in fight between the friend and his father. Officer spoke to all involved.

3:10 p.m. Caller reported an accident between two vehicles in the Pleasant Street area. One of the vehicles was a driver’s ed car, which was reportedly rear-ended by the other vehicle. Officer reported to the scene to file a report, due to the car being town-owned. Driver was found to have an expired license.

3:11 p.m. Caller in the Community Road area reported that while away from his vehicle, someone had hit his car. The other driver had left a note on the caller’s windshield, and damage appeared to be less than $1,000.

3:39 p.m. Assisted walk-in with ongoing issues with her husband. Woman decided to stay elsewhere for the night and seek a restraining order in the morning.

6:38 p.m. Person in the Hillside Avenue area called to complain about a group of children riding their scooters up and down the street. Officers reported to the scene and found no scooters in the area.

7:22 p.m. Caller requested a well-being check for a resident on Ruby Terrace. Officers reported to the residence, but the person refused to open the door.

9:38 p.m. Caller in the Peach Highlands area reported that his car had been broken into and a backpack was taken. The caller reported that the suspects were three white males, all around the age of 16. Officer stopped two possible suspects at the Green Street Playground and asked caller to come to the scene to identify them.

And on the 23rd:

12:22 a.m. Drunken man walking down the street reported on Hawkes and Lindsey streets. Man ended up walking up a driveway and appeared to be on phone trying to get a ride, according to caller. Officers could not locate the man.

12:38 a.m. Caller on West Shore Drive reported couple arguing either in the cemetery or on Waterside Road. Officers found that it was only a verbal argument between a couple of teenagers upset about being separated during college in the fall.

1:07 a.m. Conducted well-being check of caller on Pleasant Street who seemed confused.

8:31 a.m. Woman reported that, for the past two weeks as she has been walking her dog on Front Street, she has seen a man sleeping in the park on the benches. Caller was concerned about the man’s well being. Log notes that there is a town bylaw prohibiting sleeping on benches in any public park, playground or recreation area. Supervisors were apprised of the situation and the bylaw.

9:16 a.m. Caller on Jersey Street complained that kid across the street was playing his electric guitar too early on a Sunday morning. His playing had woken up the caller and his wife, the caller reported. While caller was still on the phone, the guitar playing stopped. Caller was advised to call again if the guitar playing resumed.

9:24 a.m. Investigated report of a disturbance on Puritan Road. Officers found that it was a verbal argument only.

3:16 p.m. Walk-in asked to speak to officer about disturbance.

3:21 p.m. Caller requested well-being check of child on Guernsey Street. Baby and mother were fine.

5:29 p.m. Caller reported Jeep on the field on Green Street. Officer found Jeep was parked next to the street hockey rink.

7:19 p.m. Caller reported that the shootings in Colorado were a copycat of an incident in the 2008 movie, “Midnight Movie.”

10:27 p.m. Swampscott Police asked neighboring departments to be on the lookout for vehicle with a driver who had passed a note to a clerk that he was going to harm himself by unknown means. Driver was found near Palmer Road and agreed to go to hospital for evaluation.
