I think that there are few people of my generation (and a couple of generations before me) whose favorite comedians weren't the Marx Brothers. Of the three we normally think of as the funny ones (Zeppo and Gummo weren't very visible by the time I came along), Groucho was the mouthy one, Chico was the devil-may-care one, and Harpo was the one that we'd most like to be around. He was funny, and poignant, and musical, all in one. He'd never cap your jokes with another one, but he might out-shout you with his bulb horn, or play tricks in a mirror, or turn a piano into a hap, seemingly by magic, and play something really ethereal and sweet.

His son has put together a website dedicated to his father. In it there is a page about family life with Harpo as Dad. There we see the 10 Harpo Marx Family Rules. I like them, and if I had a family I'd be using them myself. They are at the bottom of the page.

(Note: I originally copied them here, but to respect his son's copyright, I've deleted them and just left a link. Go there!)
