We have [livejournal.com profile] mc4bbs and his friend Dave visiting for a week. We had agreed to meet around 6 to have dinner tonight. He and Dave went out to mooch around the town, and HWMBO and I went out to find a blanket.

HWMBO has discovered that a duvet is too warm for him at night, but trying to buy a real blanket in London is difficult. We went to Next, we went to Heal's, we went to Habitat. Only Heal's had a suitable blanket, and it was £180. We went to Superdrug to get some handwash and had a coffee at Starbucks. Took the #1 bus home.

Meanwhile, [livejournal.com profile] mc4bbs and Dave decided to get tickets for Wicked. Now HWMBO and I are not theatre fans—the last thing we saw was Mamma Mia and that only because HWMBO and our friend CB are Abba nuts^Wfans. However, [livejournal.com profile] mc4bbs called me twice on my mobile phone and once on my home phone (we were, of course out). He texted me. He wanted to know if we wanted tickets and, if not, whether we could make dinner before theatre or, then, perhaps afterwards at 2200.

I was here sitting in front of the computer dozing. None of the calls got through. Why?

I had set my phone on "Quiet" during a meeting on Thursday night and FORGOT TO SET IT BACK AFTERWARDS!

Why can't BlackBerry find some way to make up for my absent-mindedness and do something about this?

For example, an option that would set your phone to beeping gently if you are on "Quiet" for more than n hours at a time, where n is some number between 1 and 24.

For another example, an option to simply set your phone back to "Normal" mode if you are on "Quiet" for more than n hours at a time, where n is some number as above.

I suppose I will have to use "Vibrate" mode from now on rather than "Quiet". This is not the first time I have done this, but it is the last straw, really.

Now to look at Argos for blankets.
