Oh yeah, especially the request for the design to "pop" a bit more. It's almost an obligation that the client request this!

It isn't restricted to Web site design. Just ask any architect, software designer, graphic artist and so on. It is particularly annoying in Web design, though, because the tool set is so limited that many outside sources push enhancements to the tools. What, after all, does flash do?
