Todays Grauniad front page

I subscribe to a service from the Guardian (otherwise referred to as the Grauniad because of its penchant for typos, mistakes, and corrections) that sends me an image of its front page each morning.

When I got today's front page, I did a double-take.

I do hope that they don't try buying that cruise ship for Her Majesty.

With all her riches, why should the tax payers do such a thing?

They won't. The Prime Minister later said that no public money would be spent on a yacht, but added that if private money were found he'd be happy to support the idea.

Is a republican movement afoot?

There are many small-R republicans in the United Kingdom. They have little or no influence here, at least while Her Majesty is still on this side of the turf.

When Prince Charles succeeds to the throne, there may be a bit more support.

I just thought the juxtaposition of a ship on its side in the water and Gove's desire to gift a yacht to Her Majesty in the Diamond Jubilee year was worth a chuckle. The government hastily said that it wasn't a proper use of public money in a time of austerity.

No shit, Sherlock. (meaning the government)
